Bear viewing is exceptional at the Alaska Homestead Lodge.  We truly feel privileged to watch the bears roam in their natural environment in the most beautiful, pristine area imaginable.  We are always amazed by the amount of bears we view in our area.  The bears are habituated with humans and are not threatened by our presence; therefore, the bears are comfortable with their normal routine while we observe them from a respectful distance.   These majestic bruins are incredible to watch and the sows with cubs are simply adorable and very humorous as they play and rough-house with their siblings or nurse from their mother.

Although we can accommodate larger groups, we primarily focus on smaller more personal group settings, usually from 2– 6 guests with one guide.  Many National Parks have numerous guests therefore they are very regulated with structured time frames and precise areas and platforms to view the bears.  At the Alaska Homestead lodge you will enjoy watching the coastal brown bears with a trained guide, who will escort you with an ATV and comfortable trailer behind.  Many times you can view the bears right around the lodge or within a three mile radius from the lodge.  The middle of June through the middle of September is the best bear viewing opportunities, although guests are welcome from May through September.

We offer half day (four hour) excursions, which begin at the lodge around 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., which includes a delicious lunch.  Full day tours begin around 9:30 a.m. with a departure from the lodge approximately  5:00 p.m.  We also offer overnight to week long stays.  We highly recommend our 3 or 5 day pkg. to enjoy all our activities or just relax and unwind in the beautiful and cozy original Homestead.  Make your reservation today and plan on having a great experience!
